LITTLE ROCK -- Fishing in the Coal Pile area of the lower Arkansas River, David Shopher of McGehee caught a 6.27-pound largemouth bass to take the overall lead Sunday and win the 2012 Arkansas Big Bass Bonanza. He was using a Tennessee shad-colored crank bait. "This fish was near a laydown, a fallen tree," Shopher said. He had hits from other bass, left the area and returned in about 15 minutes. I love the summer. It's kind of easy going -- sports-wise -- but I have plenty to keep me busy. I'm enjoying photographing a lot of different stuff to help provide coverage of a wide variety of subjects for the Carroll County News. I enjoyed photographing the CICA concert last week at The AUD for the News; I'm looking forward to photographing Woodstock-era hit Melanie -- you know, "I've got a brand new pair of roller skates, you've got a brand new key" -- also for the paper; and I enjoy photographing Opera in the Ozarks for myself -- but you'll see my coverage in the great musical venue in the Carroll County News, too.. ...
