County bridge foreman dies in wreck on CR 504 (01/19/05)
BERRYVILLE ---- A 49-year-old Berryville man, David White, was killed Saturday night when he apparently lost control of his 1996 Nissan pickup, and it ran off of County Road 504 and overturned, ending up on its side. Arkansas State Trooper Jana Cordes said in her report that the single-vehicle accident was relayed to her at about 11:05 p.m. Saturday. She said White was pronounced dead at the scene, and also reported that White was not wearing a seat belt...

BERRYVILLE ---- City workers participated last week in a jovial retirement ceremony for Tom Giarusso, who has served the city tending parks, lawns and the Public Square for the past 24 years. As the workers gathered, Mayor Tim McKinney kidded Giarusso, who was born in Boston, that the only reason he was retiring was because the Boston Red Sox finally won the World Series last year after a "curse" of more than 85 years...

The Greenland Lady Pirate junior and senior high basketball teams held on during Homecoming last Friday to take both games from the Eureka Springs Lady Highlander teams at Greenland. Coach Aaron Hall's senior girls were down just five points with under four minutes to play in the fourth, but Greenland hit free throws and took a 47-33 victory.
