The Little Rock Rangers won the Southwest Regional 10-year-old Cal Ripken tournament in Berryville on Tuesday with an unbeaten run through the bracket, including a 9-5 victory over the Mississippi All Stars from Meridan in the championship game. The Rangers had to come from behind in the third inning to catch Meridan, who was leading 5-1. They put a string of runs together to take a 6-5 lead in the fourth, then pushed that to nine runs while playing solid defense for the 9-5 victory... -

GREEN FOREST ---- A Green Forest man has been charged with alleged rape and first degree sexual assault. Jerrell Maybee, 62, turned himself in to authorities and was later released on a $50,000 bond. According to Chris Flanagin, with the Carroll County Prosecutor's Office, Maybee was arrested as result of a phone call to the Arkansas State Police child abuse hotline and subsequent investigation conducted by ASP Crimes Against Children investigator J.R. Deputy Rains honored for heroism

The Arkansas Sheriff's Association has cited Carroll County Deputy John Rains for heroism, praising him for his part in the rescue last May of a man who was nearly swept to his death in a sudden flash flood. Chuck Lang, executive director of the Arkansas Sheriff's Association, recognized Corporal John Rains for rescuing the drowning man, saying "This is a young man with a family who put his life on the line."...
