Postseason basketball honors have been announced and local teams are well-represented — including three Berryville seniors who earned All-State recognition.
Berryville’s Peyton Smith and Paige Thurman both were named All-State for the second consecutive season, while Thurman was joined on the Class 4A girls All-State squad by Berryville teammate Chaney Fairweather, who earned statewide recognition in her only season as a starter for the Lady Bobcats.
Another Lady Bobcats senior — Hailey Howerton — was named to the All-State Tournament team for her performance against Forrest City in the first round of the Class 4A tournament.
All four of those Berryville seniors also earned all-conference honors.
Smith, who finished his career with more than 1,500 points for the Bobcats, was an all-conference pick for the third consecutive season. He was joined by teammates John Butler, CT Hicks and Hudson Norris, all juniors. Hicks earned All-Conference honors for the second consecutive season and also was a repeat selection to the 4A-1 All-Defensive team. Classmate Carson Mc-Mellon earned honorable mention all-conference honors for the second consecutive season.
Joining Fairweather, Howerton and Thurman on the all-conference girls roster was classmate Tessa Johnson, who also was named to the 4A-1 All-Defensive team. Howerton, Johnson and Thurman received all-conference honors for the second consecutive season.
Green Forest was well represented on the boys all-conference team as well, with juniors Collin Atchison and Jace Meador selected and classmate Grady Massengale earning honorable mention honors. Sophomore Hadley Maybee was named to the conference’s All-Defensive team.
On the girls side, Lady Tigers senior Kaylyn Smith and sophomore Angelynn Janer were named to the all-conference team. Smith was an all-conference selection last season for Berryville.
