The Green Forest Tigers reached the semifinals of the Class 4A state soccer tournament last week in Harrison before suffering a season-ending 2-1 loss to De Queen on Saturday, May 16.
De Queen scored the winning goal with a minute and a half remaining to beat the Tigers.
Green Forest had advanced to the semifinals by upsetting Pulaski Robinson 3-2 in a second-round game on Friday, May 15. Jonathan Rivera scored the winning goal with five minutes remaining to end the Senators’ 17-game winning streak.
Green Forest got an early goal from senior Jafet Fuentes for a 1-0 lead, but Robinson went ahead 2-1 before a goal by the Tigers’ Brandon Perez tied it with 19 minutes remaining.
Green Forest defeated Stuttgart 6-0 in a first-round game on Thursday, May 14, with goals from Jose Cruz, Rivera, Perez, Alex Lemus, Fabian Lopez and Shar Moo.
