Running on his home course, Berryville sophomore Malachi Haughton covered 5,000 meters in 19:05.57 on Saturday, Sept. 24, to win the Class 4A-5A race in the Bobcat Back 40 at the Carroll County Fairgrounds.
It was a season-best time for Haughton. Haughton was followed by teammates Asher Ross (8th, 22:09.59); Nathan Ross (14th, 23:23.69); Robby Bartos (15th, 23:49.13); Aden Burnett (17th, 24:40.76); and Gabriel Wall (22nd, 26:56.72).
On the girls side, Berryville’s Carly Smith finished third in her classification in a time of 25:46.02. She was followed by Bella Knapp (5th, 26:00.59); Astralia Amos (7th, 27:55.67); and Sophee Bartos (15th, 39:58.40).
Green Forest sophomore Aurany Reyes led a pack of runners for the Tigers, running 19:40.34 for 10th place in Class 1A-3A. He was followed by Joseph Duenas (13th, 20:11.42); Alonzo Rangel (14th, 20:14.27); Sergio Martinez (16th, 20:19.88); Elvin Montoya (27th, 22:04.40); Chris Alvarado (35th, 23:06.47); and Alex Alvarez (37th, 23:16.82).
