Green Forest’s Kaylyn Smith and Kinly Smith each recorded top-four finishes to lead area athletes at the Class 4A State Track and Field Championships held Tuesday, May 5, at Clarksville High School.
Kaylyn Smith, a senior, placed fourth in the girls triple jump with a leap of 35 feet, 10 inches. She also competed in the 400-meter dash, finishing 12th with a time of 1:04.57.
Kinly Smith, a junior and Kaylyn’s younger sister, added another fourth-place finish for the Lady Tigers in the girls shot put with a throw of 30-5.
Also for Green Forest, freshman Avaley Gardner placed 16th in the girls 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.71.
Berryville’s Keily Diaz represented the Lady Bobcats in the girls 100-meter hurdles and finished 10th with a time of 18.02.
