Consistency is goal for Lady Bobcats

Posted

The Berryville Lady Bobcats opened the 2023 volleyball season with three tough opponents — two of them on the road.

Berryville lost all three matches, on the road at Harrison on Monday, Aug. 21, at home against Springdale the following night and at Providence Academy in Rogers on Thursday, Aug. 24.

“They all were really, really tight games,” Berryville coach Kristin Whetham said. “We’re so young that those little young mistakes keep showing up. We’re playing hard. We’ve just got to overcome this hump and become more consistent. Just consistency is what we’re missing.”

Junior Kynadee Hopper and senior Kylee Campbell, both returning starters, have played well to open the season, Whetham said. Sophomore Hannah Campbell starts at libero.

“That’s a tough role for a sophomore,” Whetham said. “She’s going to end up being a really good libero by the time her senior year comes around.”

Whetham had a homework assignment over the weekend for the Lady Bobcats.

“I made them go watch game film this weekend and they had to bring me all their notes. During the game they don’t really see it but when they go back and watch it, they’re like: ‘Oh, we see what you’re talking about.’ ” Berryville played at Green Forest on Monday, Aug. 28. The Lady Bobcats will host Gentry on Tuesday, Aug. 29.
