A big second inning helped the Berryville Bobcats beat the Green Forest Tigers 13-2 on Thursday, April 6, at the Berryville Sports Complex.
The Bobcats scored nine runs in the bottom of the second to turn a 2-1 lead into an 11-1 cushion.
Cooper Summers was hit by a pitch to open the inning, moved to second on a one-out error and scored on a single by Chris Hipps.
Another Berryville run scored on a Green Forest error before Ashton Blok hit a two-run double to extend the Bobcats’ lead to 6-1. Dylan Higgins singled before D.J. Colbert’s tworun double made it 8-1.
After a single by Brady Smith, Summers recorded Berryville’s third two-run double of the inning for a 10-1 cushion. Summers then moved to third on a groundout and scored the final run of the inning on an RBI single by Aspen Linz.
Green Forest had two hits against Berryville pitcher Jack Dignan, who struck out four batters in five innings. The Tigers scored one run in the first on a passed ball and another in the fourth on an RBI single by Braden Epperly.
Linz and Hipps — the top two hitters in Berryville’s lineup — each had three of the Bobcats’ 13 hits. Linz scored three runs and Hipps scored twice.
Blok, Colbert, Summers and Titus Gregory each drove in two runs for the Bobcats.
Mason Meador and Tristin Burgess scored for Green Forest.
Berryville will play at Gravette on Tuesday and at Elkins on Thursday before hosting Pea Ridge on Friday.
