4th-quarter run lifts Green Forest over Lead Hill

The Green Forest Tigers put on a fourth-quarter show for the home fans in the Grim Gym on Friday, Feb. 2, outscoring Lead Hill 15-4 over the final eight minutes for a 47-38 victory in 3A-1 conference play.

Senior Brayden Compton scored 21 points for Green Forest, which trailed 34-32 at the end of the third quarter. Compton also had nine rebounds for the Tigers.

Junior Brityn Gilliam added eight points for Green Forest, while classmate Zak Watson scored five points and grabbed 15 rebounds.

Green Forest outrebounded Lead Hill 42-30 and had 55 shots from the floor compared 41 for Lead Hill.

Flippin 76, Green Forest 59

A big second quarter lifted Flippin over visiting Green Forest on Tuesday, Jan. 30.

The Bobcats outscored the Tigers 24-14 in the second quarter to open up a 36-22 halftime lead.

Seniors Brayden Compton and Sebastian Holsted scored 16 points apiece for Green Forest, with junior Brityn Gilliam adding 12. Junior Zak Watson had 11 rebounds for the Tigers.

GIRLS

Green Forest’s girls defeated Lead Hill 45-13 on Friday, Feb. 2, after losing to Flippin 53-37 on Tuesday, Jan. 30.

Green Forest will host Elkins on Tuesday, Feb. 6, before closing out the regular season Friday, Feb. 9, at Valley Springs.
