The Purple Flower launches ‘Seeds of Hope’ fundraising campaign after loss of federal grant

The Purple Flower, Carroll County’s sole provider of comprehensive services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking, on Wednesday, Oct. 1, announced an urgent fundraising campaign, “Seeds of Hope: $27K in 27 Days.” The campaign aims to raise $27,000 in 27 days during October, which is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, to bridge a devastating gap left by the loss of federal grant funding.

Man pronounced dead after being found in vehicle on County Road 219

Deputies from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and other emergency personnel responding Sunday, Oct. 5, to a location on County Road 219 found a male in his 30s unconscious and not breathing in a vehicle on the side of the road, the sheriff’s office said in a news release Monday, Oct. 6. Despite life-saving efforts by emergency personnel, the individual was pronounced dead on scene by the Carroll County Coroner’s Office.
