School bus cards added for Berryville

Making sure students get on and off the correct bus will now be easier for the Berryville School District. Using a grant awarded last year, the district has completed the installation of a bus card scanning system, according to superintendent Owen Powell.

Joey Wendell Jones of Combs, Arkansas passed away on August 27, 2024. He was born July 12, 1964, in Leslie, Arkansas to Wendell and Jacqueline Barnes Jones.

The Berryville Lady Bobcats officially opened their 2024 volleyball season on Monday, Aug. 26, but coach Kristin Whetham liked what she saw in a preseason preview a week earlier.

Kathleen Hollowell Drollinger

Kathleen Hollowell Drollinger, 89, of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and formerly of Bentonville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024. She was born in Poplar Grove, Arkansas in 1935, was a graduate of Barton High School, and was retired from her position as a bookkeeper for Comley Construction Company in Fayetteville. Earlier in her career, she owned and managed Twin City Piano and Organ Company in North Little Rock, taught piano lessons, played piano and organ for her church, and was an accomplished dressmaker and seamstress.

Scout plans to construct fewer turbines

Scout Clean Energy will construct fewer wind turbines than originally planned as part of its Nimbus Project near Green Forest, a Scout official told the Carroll County Quorum Court on Tuesday, Aug. 20.

Economic Update Luncheon scheduled Sept. 19

Dr. Michael Pakko, chief economist and state economic forecaster at the Arkansas Economic Development Institute (AEDI) at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, will be the speaker at the Carroll County Economic Update Luncheon on Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Berryville Community Center. The luncheon is presented by the North Arkansas College Foundation, the Berryville Chamber of Comm e r c e and the City of Berryville. Everyone is invited to attend.
