BHS Bobcat Drama to present ‘Steel Magnolias’

BHS Bobcat Drama is hard at work on its spring play production of Robert Harling’s Steel Magnolias. Though many are familiar with the 1989 film of the same title, the play came first, with its premiere in 1987 at the WPA Theatre in New York City. Later that same year it moved to an off-Broadway production at the Lortel Theatre. There would also be a 1989 production on London’s West End, and then in 2005, a Broadway production, starring Delta Burke as Truvy. In 2012, the play became a television film with an all African-American cast that included Queen Latifah and Phylicia Rashad.
