In praise of future leaders

Hundreds of high school students explored the halls of the capitol last week during the annual exercise in government known as Girls State and Boys State. The week-long programs, which are sponsored by the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary, offer rising seniors the chance to form a government, run for office, and write and vote on legislation.

Senior Center Menu

The Carroll County Senior Activity and Wellness Center is located at 202 W. Madison Ave. in Berryville. The center is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday. The suggested donation for ages 60 and up is $4. There is a $6 charge for those under 60. Menus are subject to change as needed.

Pet of the Week

This week our Pet of the Week is Mishka, an adult grey tabby. She is a very sweet and loving kitty. Mishka also has a really cute chirp she gives out when she is getting petted by someone she loves. Mishka will make a great addition to any family. You can meet Mishka at the Good Shepherd Humane Society Adoption Center on Highway 62. The center is open daily from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Submitted photo
