Berryville’s Blitz makes honor roll at ATU-Ozark Hannah Blitz of Berryville has been named to the Honor Roll for the spring 2022 semester at Arkansas Tech University’s Ozark campus. The ATU-Ozark Campus Honor Roll honors students who complete a semester with a GPA between 3.5-3.9.

PLC Celebration

Eureka Springs Elementary School fourth-graders help celebrate the conclusion of a three-year Professional Learning Communities at Work project funded by the Arkansas Department of Elementary and Secondary Education during a ceremony Monday, May 16, at the school. The elementary faculty worked with a coaching team from Solution Tree to practice job-embedded professional development. The goal was to develop a collaborative team approach using data to improve professional practices and guarantee more students achieve at high levels. An audience estimated at more than 75 people enjoy a free concert in Berryville’s Pioneer Park featuring the University of Arkansas Student Chamber Music Tour on Monday, May 16. Families brought blankets and lawn chairs and sat amongthe historical buildings in the park while listening to the sounds of the Loblolly Brass Quintet, Hawksbill Winds and the Castalia Quartet. Billie Mack (Callen) Shaffer

The Matriarch of our family passed away Saturday morning, April 30, 2022, at age 90. Billie Mack (Callen) Shaffer was born July 29, 1931, in Eureka Springs, Ark. to Caron Delet Herring Callen and Fleman Mack Callen. They lived on a farm southeast of Blue Eye until 1938 when her folks built a home/store in town on the Missouri side of the state line. She started to school at Blue Eye R-V and graduated in 1950. Billie attended SMSU for a year and went to work in Springfield, until she met her lifemate in Branson on July 4, 1955. They married July 30, 1955.
