Support Berryville library

Posted

As an alumni of BHS, having attended all 12 years plus kindergarten in Berryville, the library was and continues to be an important part of my life.

During National Friends of the Library Week, I would like to encourage you to give back to the community by joining the Friends of the Berryville Library and by donating to help them raise the needed funds to build a new library that will better serve the growing needs of our community. Whether you live here currently or have moved away, I encourage you to support this effort that will not only enhance the quality of life for those who live here but will also be a benefit that will last for many more generations to come. If you don’t see the importance of the role a library has in a community, ask yourself, “When was the last time I’ve been in a library?” You might be surprised at all the library has to offer. Our library provides free access to the world through books, audiobooks, movies, DVDs, CDs, internet access, reference services and interactive and educational programs packed full of fun and learning for all ages.

The Berryville Library hosts nearly 80,000 visitors a year. That is over 250 a day! Over 75,000 items are checked out annually, along with countless hours logged on the computers, doing research, shopping, gaming or more. The library isn’t just about books on a shelf—it is the hub of our community, offering a safe and welcoming environment for all ages conducive to learning and personal growth.

The library offers over 500 programs reaching over 10,000 people annually. If you added up the benefit all these programs and services add to this community, it totals well over $1 million annually.

Be a part of making a new and expanded Berryville Library a reality! Our goal is to have the funds raised by 2025 or before. The Friends have already raised over 53 percent ($1.3M), which is unprecedented in only 18 months. The community has had an outpouring of support, but we need everyone to join the effort. What better time to consider giving to the Friends of the Library and becoming part of something much larger than yourself?

Thank you to the many Friends of the Berryville Library for all you do to make this community a better place to live, work, and play! Happy National Friends of the Library Week.

Sincerely,

Kristy Noble-Tesch
