DossShirley Faye Doss, a lifelong resident of Berryville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on October 30, 2024. Born on October 6, 1944, to the late Samuel and Pearl (Herd) Ramsey, Shirley’s life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family, her community and her faith.
Shirley’s journey began in the town where she would leave a lasting legacy. After completing her education, she devoted over two decades of service as a County Clerk, demonstrating an unwavering work ethic and dedication to public service. Her involvement in the community extended beyond her professional role; she was an active member of the Kiwanis Club, where she collaborated with fellow members to better the lives of those around her.
A woman of deep faith, Shirley was a devoted member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Berryville. She also took pride in her political views, standing firm as a longtime Democrat, advocating for the values she held dear.
Shirley’s life was filled with the joy of a large and loving family. She was the cherished matriarch, survived by her son, Kevin Doss and his wife Patricia; and her daughter, Patti Parker and her husband Jeff. Shirley’s love continued to blossom with her grandchildren, Ashley Kaler and her husband John, Tori McDaniel and her husband Phylemon, Justin Doss and his wife Dani, Lindsey Doss, Melissa Wilson and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Delores Guthrie.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Pat Doss; her sisters, Betty Langum and Diane Metcalf; her parents, Samuel and Pearl Ramsey; and granddaughter, Whitney Gardner.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m., till 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mitchell Scitern, Chris Newboles and Phil Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Farmer Cemetery.
