Special Peace Rocks have landed in Berryville to help the Friends of the Berryville Library begin the countdown to their family-friendly Peace, Love and a New Library Fundraising Festival. The festival is presented by Walmart and will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 8, at the City Pool Park in Berryville.
Approximately 30 lucky Peace Rocks have been hidden in and around businesses and public spaces in Berryville. The rocks, painted pink with a blue peace symbol, are lucky because if you find one and bring it to the Berryville Library at 104 Spring St., you will win two free tickets to the Festival. Event sponsor KTHS will be announcing clues as to the whereabouts of these lucky rocks on both KTHS and KESA radio stations. All are welcome to take part in this fun community scavenger hunt to see how many rocks can be found and prizes claimed before the Festival takes place on July 8.
On July 8, the fun will kick off at 11 a.m. with live music, bingo, face painting, carnival games, a dessert walk, face painting, sidewalk chalk art and so much more. There will be a silent auction, special swag for sale and a cupcake toast to the universe at noon.
Tickets for the Festival are on sale now at the Berryville Library at 104 Spring St. Tickets are $5, $3 for those ages 3 to 17, with those under 3 getting in free. Tickets include admission to the event, a sack lunch featuring Stubb Grocery’s famous “Luther Burger,” and three game tickets. Bring cash for additional game tickets and activities and a lawn chair to enjoy the music.
“Regardless of your age, this fundraising festival will take you back in time to the old-fashioned carnivals we used to attend back in the 70s! It will be an event you, your kids or your grandkids won’t want to miss all while raising money for a much needed new library,” said Elaine Floyd, Friends of the Berryville Library vice president.
Berryville Walmart is the presenting sponsor for this event. Other business sponsors include Pepsi, Carroll County Community Media, Carroll County Broadcasting, Shelter Insurance – Tonya Williams, Agent; State Farm – JoAnn Clark, Agent; CJC Electric; and Bar L Homes.
