Nita Jane Reuter of Eureka Springs, Arkansas was born February 8, 1927, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Chester and Mabel (Legg) Kirsch. Nita passed away April 12, 2023, in Eureka Springs at the age of 96.

She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church since 1982, where she sang and played the organ for 27 years. Nita’s music ministry for her Catholic community extended over 70 years. She enjoyed singing, playing music, working in the garden, growing _owers. Nita enjoyed watching the birds and her dogs. She loved her family and friends.

April 3, 1948, Nita was united in marriage to Bill. Passionate about the Right to Life Movement, in 1971, Nita and Bill Reuter stood before the Indiana Legislature in order to represent the voice of the unborn. Because of their passion for young people, Nita and Bill were fondly called “Ma and Pa” by many, especially at local adolescent weekend Catholic Encounter weekends.

A faithful wife of 75 years, a loving mother of eight children, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, and “Ma” to many others along the way, Nita Reuter leaves a legacy of speaking up for social justice issues, being actively involved in community service, and being devoted to her faith, promoting spiritual development through her writing, sharing, and singing.

Nita is survived by her eight children, Angela, David, John, Mary Ann, Joseph, eresa, Christina, James; 24 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Nita is preceded by her parents, Chester and Mabel Kirsch and husband, William Reuter.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 14, 2023, at Nelson’s Chapel of the Springs in Eureka Springs. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2023, at St. Elizabeth of Hungary with Father Joseph Archibong o iating.
