Mattie M. Glocksien, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 10, 2025, at the age of 100 years, 2 months and 16 days. Born May 20, 1925, to Berl Baker and Leona Baker in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She lived a life devoted to her family and faith.
She married the love of her life, Dan Glocksien, November 14, 1942. They shared 44 years together and raised three daughters.
Mattie was a cherished homemaker and mother, dedicating her life to nurturing her family and filling her home with love and care. She was a talented musician, proficient in guitar, piano, harp and dulcimer. A skilled seamstress, she loved sewing, making quilts and crafts.
She was a devout member of the Eureka Springs Freewill Baptist Church where she engaged deeply with her faith through music and fellowship.
Mattie is survived by her daughters, Joyce Wood, Kathy Hopper and Connie (Ralph) Kelley; brother, Glen Baker; grandchildren, Vincent Wood, Esther Wood, Russell (Jodi) Hopper, Jerry (Julie) Hopper, Jessica (Randall) Smith, Andy (Melissa) Kelley, Dustin (Chantae) Kelley, and Santana (Dustin) Mead and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Dan Glocksien and Clayton Jones; her three sisters and four brothers; sons-in-law, Junior Hopper and Kenneth Wood; and great-grandson, Brayden Hopper. Mattie loved and cherished her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel, Berryville, Arkansas, at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Billy McCall and Pastor Wayne Writer will be officiating the services. Burial will be at Moreland Cemetery in Grandview, Arkansas following the funeral service. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
