Library needs your help

Posted

To the editor:

Hello, my name is Paul Engskov. I am a member of the building committee for the new Berryville Library. Our goal is to have a new library under construction by 2025 or before.

The week of Oct. 16-22 is National Friends of the Library Week. It is a week to celebrate our local Friends group and to raise awareness that its existence is necessary and to promote membership.

I want to thank the Friends for all they do for the library. Their support helps fund programming and provides furniture and new technology, and they work to raise funds for this new library project with all the effort they can muster. A pandemic has happened and fundraising was slowed, and a bout of inflation has raised costs everywhere, but they were not deterred! They have a raffle going on right now, so you can help by buying some tickets. Several great prizes are available.

The Friends would like to invite you to become a member and volunteer for their projects. They make the community a better place to live. It’s a fun group of hardworking, creative and dedicated people. I know you can find a reason to join—community awareness, love of grandchildren, large print books, better learning tools, technology skills and pride in the proposed new library for years to come.

Join today! Call 870-423-2323 and ask how you can help, or go by the Berryville Library to visit and join. As a Friend of the Berryville Library, you will be giving back to our town and helping more people than you can imagine. Thanks.

— Paul Engskov
