Joseph Daniel “Gordo” Hankins, a beacon of light and joy to all who knew him, passed away on August 3, 2025, in Berryville, Arkansas. Born on March 20, 2002, in Springfield, Missouri, Gordo’s infectious smile and boundless energy defined his 23 years of life.
Gordo was a cherished son to his father, Ralph Perez, and a loving grandson to Rebecca Gomez. He was the epitome of a family man, deeply connected to his roots and always putting his relatives first. His brothers, Jenson, Jaustin and Joseph “Joey” Gomez. Gordo’s aunt, Jessica Gomez, and his uncle and aunt, Michael and Emily Gomez. Gordo also leaves behind the love of his life his girlfriend, Amanda Merida, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Growing up in Berryville, Gordo’s passion for working on cars was evident from a young age. He could often be found in the garage, tools in hand, working on a new project. His mechanical skills and dedication to the craft earned him respect and admiration from all who had the pleasure of witnessing his work. An ardent fan of the Steelers, Gordo’s enthusiasm for his team was contagious. Game days were an event not to be missed, as he would gather with friends and family, cheering on his favorite team with a fervor that only true fans possess. These moments of togetherness were a testament to his love for his close-knit circle. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. Gordo’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and the unspoken promise to always cherish the moments we have with those we hold dear.
Rosary service will be 4:30 p.m. till 5:00 p.m., August 15, 2025, at Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m., August 15, 2025, at Charles M.
