John James Marsh

Posted

John James Marsh, a man of great spirit and loving heart, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his wife (Joyce Marsh), his daughter (Jamy Hunter), and his son (Jeremy Marsh) on the 12th of July 2025, in Berryville, Arkansas, at the age of 77.

John was born in Camden, Texas, as Johnny Wallace Bailey, on May 20, 1948, to his biological parents, Thelma Louise Fenley and J.W. Bailey. He was adopted at the age of 13, to the loving people that he would call Mom and Dad forever, the late Elmer and Janice (Worthey) Marsh. At that time, he was renamed John James Marsh.

John’s life was one of service and dedication, as evidenced by his honorable time in the Navy. He carried the discipline and commitment learned in service throughout his entire life, touching the lives of many with his generosity and work ethic. After serving his country, John found solace in raising his family and the joy of the open road, riding his beloved Harley, and embracing the freedom it offered.

A true craftsman, John was happiest when working with his hands, whether it be in his shop, fishing by a tranquil stream, or tinkering with a new project. His shop was not just a place to tinker and let his creativity flow; but a hub where friends and family would gather, drawn by the promise of good conversation and hearty laughter. John was a cherished husband to his wife, Joyce Marsh, and a guiding light to his children, Jeremy Marsh and Jamy Hunter, alongside her husband Keith. His legacy continues to thrive through his adoring grandchildren, Bailey, Kali, and Kason Hunter, who will forever carry the lessons and love he imparted.

He leaves behind his sisters, Brenda Smith, Jan Foerster, and Jenny Joye, with her husband Jeff, as well as his brothers, Jimmy Denton and James Fowler. The void left by his passing will be felt deeply by his many relatives, including nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a multitude of friends who all held a special place in his heart. John was preceded in death by his biological parents, his forever adoptive parents, his in-laws (Wanda and Floyd Johnson), and his brother, Kenny Beasley. He now joins them in eternal rest.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2025, at High Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Arkansas Hospice: 310 S. Main Street, Suite D, Berryville AR 72616 or High Cemetery Fund, ℅ Randy Hooten, 1057 CR 422, Berryville, AR 72616. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
