Jerry LeVaughn George

Posted

Jerry LeVaughn George of Blue Eye, Missouri was born May 2, 1951, in Green Forest, Arkansas to Horace and Norma (Stephenson) George. Jerry passed away January 15, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 73.

Jerry enjoyed anything that involved being outdoors. His many hobbies included fishing, hunting, driving and building fast cars, riding motorcycles and being a very talented musician. He was an amazing storyteller and had a knack for making a person feel like they were right there with him in the story. His greatest joys in life, however, were the ones that called him “Papaw” Jerry. He adored all five of his grandsons and his two great-grandsons. He had such a unique and special relationship with each one and they will miss him terribly.

Jerry had a larger-thanlife personality and a heart to match. He often used to laugh and say that people either loved him or hated him, there was no in between. He did everything in life at full throttle and, because of that, lived a very full life indeed. He was a husband, father, son, brother, uncle, Papaw and friend. Anyone who has ever met him will certainly never forget him.

June 6, 1971, Jerry was united in marriage to Nancy (Harris) George who survives him of the home. He is also survived by his son, Justin George of Harrison, Arkansas; daughter, Joanna (George) McWilliam and husband Mack of Berryville, Arkansas, daughter-in-law, Angie George of Nixa, Missouri; grandchildren, Garrett George and Deserae, Wyatt George and Lucy, Bobby Dale Jones, Logan McWilliam, Gunner McWilliam; great-grandchildren, Maverick George and Hudson George; brother, Leslie George and wife Ann of Lampe, Missouri; sisters, Crystal Rinker and husband Johnny of Crane, Missouri and Leah Morgan and husband Richard of Oak Grove, Arkansas; along with many other family members and friends.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Norma George and brother, Dwight George.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2025, at Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel. Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Mt. Olivet Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Cantrell officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Research, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service. Online condolences may be sent to nelsonfuneral. com.
