James W. “Jimmy” Carr, Jr., passed away December 24, 2025, in Berryville, Arkansas, at the age of 80, with his daughters by his side.
He was born in Green Forest, Arkansas, on September 21, 1945, the last of 5 children, and only boy, born to James Willard, Sr. and Opal Carr who preceded him in death.
Jimmy joined the Air Force and served active duty during the Vietnam War from 1965-1969. While he was stationed at Pope Air Force Base in North Carolina, he met Clarise Harris and they were married January 28, 1968. After his discharge from active duty, Jimmy and Clarise moved back to his family farm in Arkansas where they operated a dairy farm for many years. Jimmy also raised chickens for Tysons. He then went back to school at age 55 to become a truck driver and saw his childhood dream come true. He drove a big truck from 2001-2007 when he retired to become a stay at home Papa/Babysitter which was the job he loved the most. Jimmy and Clarise were blessed with 3 children and 4 grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as Papa.
Jimmy is survived by his daughters, Tanya McBryde and husband Matt, and Melony Parker; and son, James W. Carr, III, all of Berryville. “Extra” sons, Nehemias Lopez and Noah Bourgeois. He is also survived by his sister, Laura Welch of Berryville; and brother-in-law, Lewis Morris of Alpena. Brotherin- law, Roy Harris and wife Connie; sisters-in-law, Judy Barbour and Sallie Harris, all of North Carolina. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, which he loved very much. Most importantly, he is survived by his greatest loves, his grandchildren, Marcus Dorsey and wife Jacqueline, Mattie Fultz, J.J. Parker and Emmy Parker, all of Berryville, along with his bonus grandchildren of many years, Johnathon, Brett and Ryan Nelson, all of Huntsville, Arkansas. He was the best Papa and will be dearly missed by his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Clarise Carr. He was also preceded in death by sister, Rose Doty; sister, and brother-in-law, Paula and Eugene Hampton, all of Berryville. Sister, Johnnie Morris of Alpena; sister and brotherin- law, Roma Lee and Mert Mertens of Fort Smith. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Woody Harris of Virginia; brother-inlaw and wife, Wendell and Edna Harris; sister-in-law and husband, Edna and Dewey Thornton, all of North Carolina. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter born straight into the arms of Jesus.
Visitation will be Friday, January 2, at 10:00 a.m. at Nelson’s Chapel in Berryville, Arkansas, with the service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. at Nelson’s Chapel, with interment to follow at High Cemetery.
