James Lee Harris

James Lee Harris was born on July 17, 1962, in Harrison, Arkansas, the son of Jack Raymond and Lee Jane (Russell) Harris. Jim passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023, in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the age of 60.

Jim and Jana resided in Little Rock from 1989-1997 where he practiced law at the Rose Law Firm. _ey then moved to Northwest Arkansas in 1997, from 1997 to 2000 he practiced law at Hall Estill Law Firm. Later that year he went to work at the University of Arkansas in the Planned Giving Department and eventually became the Associate Vice Chancellor for Advancement. Jim was a member of Cross Church in Springdale. He served on the Arkansas Baptist Foundation Board of Directors.

Jim married his loving wife, Jana Lynn (Watson) Harris on January 2, 1988, who survives him of the home. He is also survived by his sons, Jack Harris and wife Rebecca of Roseville, California and John Harris of Fayetteville, Arkansas; sisters, Nancy George of Blue Eye, Missouri and Jan Harris Flores of Berryville, Arkansas; mother-in-law, Janis Watson Alianak of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; father-inlaw, Larry M. Watson of Bentonville, Arkansas; brotherin- law, Steve Watson and Athina Mason of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; his faithful dog companion, Clyde Whaley Harris; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Lee Jane Harris; brothers, George Harris and Tom Harris; and his dog, Flash.

Jim loved his family, his church, traveling, eating, and Razorback Athletics. He also loved what he called the “Crown Jewel of Northwest Arkansas” Berryville. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Celebration of Life will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Cross Church in Springdale, Arkansas.
