Hubert “Hue” Bowers

Posted

Hubert “Hue” Bowers of Berryville, Arkansas was born July 22, 1929, in Conrad, Iowa to Alva and Ada (Bockes) Bowers. Hue passed away January 19, 2026, in Berryville at the age of 96.

Hue lived a life rooted in service, curiosity, and creativity. A proud Boy Scout leader, he guided young people with patience and integrity, always leading by example. He found joy in the simple rhythms of gardening and never lost the competitive spark he discovered running track in high school. Hue loved being outdoors whether golfing with friends or casting a line on a quiet morning. He was also a gifted painter and an avid collector, drawn to the stories that objects carry. For several years, he worked at the Passion Play, where he poured his energy into a community and mission, he deeply believed in. Above all, Hue approached life with enthusiasm and heart, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, craftsmanship, and steady dedication. Hue was a Navy veteran and served our nation during the Korean War. Hue was united in marriage to Dorothy Lee Litchfield, the love of his life, on June 30, 1951. They enjoyed many years together enjoying life and raising their children.

He is survived by his children, Trent Bowers, Jamie Dickelman and husband Bryan; grandson, Hunter Dickelman; brother, Lavern “Butch” Bowers; along with other family members and friends.

Hue is preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Ada Bowers; wife, Dorothy Bowers; sisters, Luella Jane Nordhagen and Bonnie Tesdall.

A Celebration of Life for Hue will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service. Online condolences may be sent to nelson@nelsonfuneral.com
