Harold “Joe” Franklin of Eureka Springs, Arkansas was born on April 25, 1957, in Berryville, Arkansas, the son of Sammy Joe and Ila Mae (Scates) Franklin, departed this life on Saturday, July 9, 2022, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, at the age of 65.
Joe managed several restaurants. His passion was cooking as well as watching cooking shows. Oh, did he love to cook the craziest dishes. Not only did he love cooking them, but everyone loved eating them.
Joe like to drop a coin or two in the slots. Something he and Bettie have done together through the years. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, in his younger years and fishing many hours with his good friend Glen. Joe would even set his alarm to get up and watch fishing shows. He enjoyed life and spending time with family.
Joe is survived by his partner Bettie Perkins and her two daughters; daughter Debra (Franklin) Munson; brother Bo Franklin; grandchildren Brittany Brookhart, Tyler Reddick, Destiny Smith, and Thomas Reddick; nephews and nieces Braxton Franklin, Shayla Franklin, Anna Montgomery, and Junior Roblero; uncle Donnie Franklin and his wife Harriet; aunts Ruth Ann Miller, Shirley Newberry, Melissa Herndon, Adeline Miller and her husband Gerald.
He is preceded in death by his parents Sammy Joe and Ila Mae Franklin; baby sister Debra Mae; maternal grandparents John and Mary Scates; paternal grandparents Jack and Ruth Franklin; uncles Gary Jack Franklin, Lee Scates, Wayne Scates, Johnny Scates, Red Scates, Ray Scates and Kenny Scates; aunts Jody Pyatt and Geraldine Gilbert. Graveside service was 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 15, 2022, at the Eureka Springs Cemetery with Pastor David McMellon officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
