Gail Eileen (Frysinger) Cawsey, 78, of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, passed away Monday, January 8, after an extended illness.
As per her wishes, she has been cremated. There are no services planned at this time.
Gail was born April 12, 1945, Wilmington, North Carolina, she was raised in Moline, Illinois where she graduated from Moline High School in 1963.
She married Douglas Massie and they had two sons, Christopher and Brannon. She later married Stephen Cooper Cawsey of Seattle, Washington, who became her forever partner in work and travel for the next 30 years.
She is survived by her sister, Linda (Mike)Melroy of Eureka Springs; her grandson, Jacob Cawsey of Ellensburg, Washington; her nephew, Ryan (Heather) Dwyer of New Orleans; nieces, Delta and Blythe Dwyer of New Orleans; a granddaughter, Miranda Massie; and her two sons.
Preceding Gail in death are her husband, Steve Cooper Cawsey; her father, Walter Frysinger; her mother, Mary Ruth Steffen; her step-father, Phillip T. Steffen; and her nephew, Matthew Dwyer.
In the early 70s, while working as legal secretary with Lloyd’s of London, in Dallas, Texas, Gail was introduced to Sol Price. He told her that he needed someone with her expertise to work with him in establishing, what would become, Price Club, the first wholesale warehouse club in the United States. This career opportunity would forever change her life.
She had planned to retire when she left Price Club, but in the early 90s, she was asked to join the corporate office of Costco Wholesale Warehouse in Seattle, Washington. Costco and Price Club soon merged to become Price-Costco and Gail was named Vice President of Personnel.
She was very proud of her 20-year career at Costco. It was here that she met her husband, Steve. After retirement, Gail and Steve spent many years as full-time RV’ers, traveling the country until Parkinson’s Disease prevented Steve from traveling.
