Evelyn Ray of Berryville, Arkansas was born on February 4, 1939, in Berryville to Laburn and Lorene (Peters) Matthews. Evelyn passed away Monday, October 30, 2023, at the age of 84.
Evelyn was very involved with church, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, and helping in the kitchen for church dinners. She was a member for 42 years at Golden Baptist Church in Golden, Missouri. A loving wife and wonderful mother, she enjoyed gardening, working with her flowers and vegetables, living on the farm and loving her animals. Most of all, her family was her main love. She had an extended family and loved them dearly as well.
Evelyn is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Eual Odell Ray; three daughters, Robin Arnold of Berryville, Denise Vanhook of Berryville, and Kimberly Armstrong of Louisiana, and Gene Ray; two brothers and four sisters, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Laburn and Lorene Matthews; one brother and two sisters.
A time of visitation began at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel. Funeral service began at 10:00 a.m., with Mr. Lane Shumaker officiating. Interment followed at High Cemetery.
