Cormal Kay Smith McMahan went to be with her Savior, infant children Melody, Michael, and Melita, her beloved parents, and siblings on Thursday, January 29, 2026.

Cormal Kay Smith McMahan was born January 19, 1945, in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Ova Mae Newberry Smith and Ray Smith Sr. She was the 13th child in a large family of 7 brothers and 5 sisters. She was aunt to many nieces and nephews before she graduated high school. Cormal graduated from Green Forest high School and attended School of the Ozarks for a short time before marrying Roger McMahan at the Green Forest United Baptist Church on April 30, 1964. After many years of raising a family and hard work she earned her education and music degrees from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. She taught middle and elementary school at Latta, Oklahoma for many years before retiring and moving back to Arkansas with her husband Roger.

Along the way they raised three children. Their presence filled her home with a lot of activity and love. She loved music. Cormal learned to play piano at a church across from her home in high school. She taught herself how to play the accordion also. She enjoyed playing the organ at the chapel at School of the Ozarks. Roger enjoyed Cormal’s talent during the many years she played piano at the churches where they served together.

She is survived by her husband, Roger of the home and her adored brother, Cecil Smith of Illinois. She is also survived by her eldest son, Todd Samuel and wife Penni of Maryland; daughter, Alicia Kay Gardner and husband John of Oklahoma, and Tory Daniel and wife Beena of Missouri. Grandchildren are Donovan Mc-Mahan and his wife Danni, Candice McMahan, Megan Rowe and her husband Andrew, Andrew Gardner and his wife Sydney, Chloe Gardner, Brady Gardner and his wife Ella, and Cyrus Mc-Mahan. Great-grandchildren are Emersyn McMahan, Riley Rowe, Ezekiel McMahan and Parker Rowe.

Visitation service will be Friday, February 6, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Nelson’s Green Forest Chapel. Funeral service will be Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Nelson’s Green Forest Chapel. Interment will follow at Fair Grove Cemetery.
