Bert Wright of Green Forest was born in Berryville on July 24, 1933 to Charlie and Ruth (Percival) Matney. Bert passed away Aug. 2, 2023, in Huntsville at the age of 90.
He served his country in the Army from 1955 until 1957. Bert worked at Kimes Auto Parts in Green Forest for many years and he always had a story to tell. He lived a full life filled with wonderful experiences and lessons learned. He was very smart and always had good advice to give.
Bert was an amazing man. He was filled full of love, compassion and gratitude.Bert loved the Lord and his family more than anything. Bert’s family was his whole world. He always put everyone before himself. Bert’s wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will always have special memories with their Papa.
September 10, 1955 Bert was united in marriage to Betty (Warden) Wright and had a wonderful 67 years together. He is also survived by his daughter, Anessa Walker; grandsons, Ramsey Walker and wife Megan, Riley Walker and wife Kaileigh; great-grandchildren, Paislee, Reagan, Sophie, and Raeleigh Walker; sister, Virginia (Matney) Peters; brothers, Jerry Matney, Phillip Matney; along with other family members and friends.
Bert is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Ruth Matney; son, Arthur Wright; son-in-law, Ricky Walker; brothers, Robert Wright, Delbert Wright, Lynn Matney; sister, Susie (Matney) Lovett, Rose (Matney) Johnson, Earnestine Woodall. Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, at Farmer Cemetery in Berryville with Pastor Joe Summers officiating.
