LITTLE ROCK — Expanding awareness of the WIC program and improving access to WIC-approved foods could help boost maternal and infant health in Arkansas, according to researchers at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).

Interest in gardening surged during the pandemic as Arkansans flocked to the outdoors, and that interest doesn’t seem to be fading. The Arkansas Master Gardeners program, part of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture, is the state’s largest horticulture volunteer and education organization. Each fall, the Carroll County Master Gardeners offer a 40-hour training course as a requirement to become a Carroll County Master Gardener. In-person Zoom training will be scheduled weekly from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for five weeks at the Carroll Electric community room. An online version of the training is also available.
