The Berryville Lady Bobcats expected to start four freshman when they opened the 2023 softball season at home Tuesday, March 7, against Ozark.
“We’re extremely young again,” Berryville coach Arel Ferguson said. “They’re softball kids. They get it. So I think it’s going to be allright.”
Berryville’s defense should be solid up the middle with the return of senior catcher Ava O’Gorek and sophomore shortstop Kynadee Hopper.
Speed will be a strength for the Lady Bobcats — especially in the outfield where Berryville will start three freshmen.
Ferguson calls freshman center fielder Codi Joubert the fastest player she has coached in her eight-year career.
“She is super fast,” Ferguson said. Berryville lost ace pitcher Faith Kelley to graduation, but Ferguson said sophomore Bailey Skelton has been working hard in practice.
After Tuesday’s game against Ozark, Berryville is scheduled to host Elkins on Thursday and Flippin on Friday.
