It was yet another reminder of the strength and work ethic of our Berryville community on the weekend of March 23-24 to see over 45 people out on a 12-mile stretch of Highway 21 South wearing wrap-around reflective vests and with orange garbage bags in hand. They filled over 130 bags in three days that will be picked up with support from ARDOT!
This stretch of road passes through such quintessential- Berryville beauty but it unfortunately attracts an unusual amount of roadside litter. (I live along Highway 62 West and don’t have this problem even though my stretch of road has easily 10 times the traffic.) If you drive down 21 South today, you’ll see the good work of organizer Tina Cone, members of the Moore Baptist Church, Don Matt who inspires us all with his enthusiasm, and many, many other friends, neighbors and residents of Highway 21. With the help of some generous local sponsors (Hanby Lumber, Warren Welding, Berryville Liquor Shop, Powell Hardware, Sonic, Casey’s, and Ramona Hambrick), the group celebrated on Sunday evening with food and prizes in what may have been a world-record-length block party!
