BlankenshipVerna Marie Blankenship, resident of Berryville, Arkansas was born April 27, 1948 in Berryville, Arkansas to Carmel Clyde Smith and Eulah Maxine (High) Smith. She departed this life Wednesday, October 30, 2024 in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 76.
Verna devoted her life to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a hardworking and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, teacher, neighbor, friend, and farmer. Verna was a member of Towering Oaks Church. She was a preschool Sunday school teacher, Wednesday night preschool teacher, VBS teacher, sang in the choir, and volunteered every chance she could at Towering Oaks Church. She has taught an impressive number of children about the love of Jesus over the years. She prioritized making precious memories and spending time with her family and friends as well as making sure they knew about the precious love of Jesus. She loved to cook for others, travel with her dear friends, and visit friends and family.
She is survived by her daughter, Marian Powers and husband Darren of Shell Knob; son, Heath Blankenship and wife Jamae of Berryville; grandchildren, Dylan Blankenship and wife Joy of Berryville, Anna Champlin and husband Evan of Shell Knob, Hunter Blankenship and wife Grace of Berryville, Dakota Powers of Shell Knob; great-grandchildren, Asher Blankenship, Baby Champlin on the way; brother, Richard Smith and wife Sue of Berryville; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, neighbors, and loved ones.
On May 27, 1966 she was united in marriage to Homer Doyle Blankenship who precedes her in death. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Carm and Maxine Smith; and great-grandchild, Baby Blankenship.
Verna left an amazing and inspiring legacy as well as so many wonderful memories for us to cherish forever. She will be greatly missed by so many, but she has received her reward in spending eternity in Heaven.
Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. till 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 2024, at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 4, 2024, at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel with Brother Craig Villines, Brother Mitchell Scitern, Brother Larry Montgomery, and Brother Dave McMellon officiating. Interment will follow at High Cemetery.
