Two Republican candidates — including one from Carroll County — announced their candidacy Monday for the District 6 seat in the Arkansas House of Representatives.

Carroll County District 4 Justice of the Peace Hunter Rivett and Omaha businessman Cody Rogers both announced they will be seeking the seat currently held by Republican Harlan Breaux of Holiday Island. District 6 includes portions of Carroll and Boone counties. Breaux is not seeking re-electi “After much prayer and conversation with family and friends, I am excited to announce my campaign for Arkansas State Representative today,” Rivett said in a news release. “As a Justice of the Peace for Carroll County, I have a record of being a strong voice for the conservative values of our district. I have supported and voted for limited government and less regulation, cutting government spending, removing government red tape and backing our law enforcement. I will continue to fight and stand for these conservative values as the next State Representative for District 6.”

Upon announcing his candidacy, Rivett also stated: “I am a proven, experienced, conservative Christian Republican, and I will always protect the sanctity of human life, oppose any encroachment on the constitutional right to keep and bear arms, defend election integrity and public safety, and stand up for our shared values of faith, family, and freedom. I humbly ask for the support and votes from the people of District 6 in the Republican Primary in 2026.”

Rivett, 28, is a history teacher at Berryville High School. In 2022, he was elected Justice of the Peace in Carroll County. He previously served as chairman of the Carroll County Republican Committee.

Born and raised in Berryville, Rivett is a graduate of Berryville High School and holds a degree in history education and Ozark studies from Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. He is an avid hunter, fisher and golfer.

Rogers also issued a news release announcing his candidacy. Rogers identified himself as a “conservative Republican and lifelong Arkansan.”

“A staunch defender of conservative values, Cody Rogers will protect the unborn, uphold the Second Amendment, fight against illegal immigration, cut taxes, advocate for our veterans, and remove government red tape that stifles economic growth and harms our small businesses,” the news release said.

“ ‘I’m running because Arkansas deserves strong, principled leadership that will fight for faith, family, and freedom,’ ” Rogers was quoted as saying. “ ‘I will be a conservative leader at the Capitol, from defending life and liberty to fighting for working families so they can keep more of their hard earned money. As a small business owner, I understand the challenges we face to start and grow businesses and create jobs.

‘Anyone who knows me knows I never saw myself as a politician, but many friends, family members, and leaders in our community encouraged me to run for this position. I’m not in this race to climb the political ladder. I’m running to take on the radical left and work every day to deliver real results for our communities.’ ” Rogers, 44, is a graduate of Bergman High School. He has been married to his wife, Alexis, for 22 years. They have three sons: Kason (19), Ryder (16) and Foster (11). Rogers is a sales professional for Advanced Sealing & Striping and a co-owner of Olive View Events in Omaha. Cody is an avid hunter and gun enthusiast. He volunteers every year as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army. The Rogers family are members of Woodland Hills Family Church.

“Growing up as the son of a pastor, my dad taught me Christian values, to love and trust the Lord, and to love and serve my neighbor,” Rogers said in the news release. “After much prayer and consideration, I ask District 6 to put their trust in me to serve them in Little Rock.”
