Turnovers have been a problem for the Berryville Bobcats in recent weeks, and the trend continued in Berryville’s game at Lincoln on Friday, Oct. 28.
The Bobcats fumbled the ball away at midfield on their first play from scrimmage, setting up a Lincoln touchdown drive and setting the tone for the Wolves’ 49-13 victory.
Berryville (1-8, 0-6 4A-1) turned the ball over four times, spoiling an otherwise solid offensive performance that saw the Bobcats rush for 270 yards.
“That’s eight turnovers in the last four games,” Berryville coach Bryan Hutson said. “We can’t do that and beat anybody.”
Ethan Williams scored a pair of touchdowns on quarterback keepers for Berryville, on a 1-yard run with 2:52 left in the first half and a 10-yard run with 34.7 seconds left in the third quarter.
“The game plan was to keep it out of their fast-paced offense,” Hutson said. “When we did that and didn’t make mistakes and didn’t turn it over, it worked well. You just can’t turn it over like that.”
Berryville will host Green Forest in the annual Carroll County Super Bowl on Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
