Berryville’s Crosseyed Crickets trap shooting team won the West Region championship in the Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports regional tournament on Saturday, May 2, in Jacksonville.
The Crickets finished with a team score of 233, three points ahead of Booneville.
Green Forest Squad 1 took third place with a score of 229, while Berryville’s Velocity Trappers tied for fourth place at 228.
Berryville’s Colter Goforth, shooting for the Velocity Trappers, tied for first place in the individual standings with a perfect score of 50 points and will compete for the “champion of champions” honor in the upcoming state tournament.
Jaret Standlee of the Crosseyed Crickets took fifth place with a score of 49, one point ahead of teammates Andy Andreski and Chloe Cherry, who each shot 48. Axton Palmer and Grady Gordon, shooting for Green Forest Squad 1, and Green Forest Squad 2’s Braxton Randolph also shot 48.
In the junior division, on Friday, May 1, Green Forest’s Junior Squad 1 tied for fourth place with 101 points. Bentley Henson led the Tigers, tying for sixth place with a score of 23.
The junior state tournament will be held Friday, May 29, with the senior state tournament slated for Saturday, May 30.
