The Berryville Bobcats junior high basketball team continued its outstanding season last week, advancing to the championship game of the Anstaff Tournament at Alpena.

Berryville reached the tournament final by defeating Bergman 71-45 in a semifinal game on Saturday, Jan. 20.

CT Hicks scored 23 points to lead the Bobcats in the victory over Bergman. Mason Zogleman added 14 points and Hudson Norris scored 13 points for Berryville.

Hicks had eight points and Zogleman added six in the first quarter as Berryville jumped out to a 24-8 lead.

In the tournament championship game, Flippin pulled away in the second half to defeat Berryville 66-42.

Carson McMellon led Berryville with 12 points, while Hicks added nine. Hicks and Norris were named to the All-Tournament team.

The Bobcats bounced right back from the loss to Flippin, defeating Huntsville 48-26 on Thursday, Jan. 25.

Zogleman led Berryville with 16 points, including 10 in the second half. Hicks added 13 points for the Bobcats.

7TH GRADE BERRYVILLE 58, MARSHALL 28 Brayden Bancroft scored 17 points and Talon Whetham had 16 as Berryville’s seventh-grade boys won their 11th consecutive game with a victory over Marshall on Saturday, Jan. 20.

Carson Compton added 12 points for Berryville, which led 29-12 at the end of the first quarter.

GIRLS BERRYVILLE 32, GENTRY 24

Laykin Talley scored seven of her game-high 13 points in the first quarter as visiting Berryville defeated Gentry on Friday, Jan. 19.

Kinly Smith added nine points for the Lady Bobcats, all in the third quarter.

BERRYVILLE 27, HUNTSVILLE 24

Kinly Smith scored 12 points and Lexy Pittman added eight as Berryville rallied to beat Huntsville on the Lady Eagles’ home floor on Thursday, Jan. 26.
