The Green Forest Tigers picked up two wins in three games last week, defeating Kingston 60-56 on Wednesday, Dec. 11, in the Anstaff Bank Green Forest Holiday Tournament on Wednesday, Dec. 11, before topping School of the Ozarks 53-38 on Friday, Dec. 13.
Sophomore Collin Atchison scored 16 points to lead three Green Forest players in double figures in the win over Kingston. Senior Zak Watson added 14 points and seven rebounds and sophomore Grady Massengale had 13 points and eight rebounds. Senior Mason Meador had an impressive all-around game for the Tigers with nine points, 11 rebounds and nine assists.
Massengale scored 14 points and Atchison added 12 in the win over School of the Ozarks.
On Thursday, Dec. 12, the Tigers lost to Huntsville 53-31 in the holiday tournament. Watson had 13 points and six rebounds for Green Forest.
Green Forest’s girls also picked up a pair of victories, defeating Lead Hill 83-30 on Thursday, Dec. 12, and School of the Ozark 41-24 on Friday, Dec. 13, before losing to Huntsville 50-43 in the holiday tournament’s consolation championship on Saturday, Dec. 14.
Both Green Forest teams will play their first-ever 4A-1 conference games this week, traveling to Gentry on Tuesday, Dec. 17, before hosting Huntsville on Friday, Dec. 20.
