Tigers ready for kickoff Friday

Posted

First-year Green Forest coach Dalton Ewing wants to see some hard-nosed football from the Tigers. That’s exactly what he got in Green Forest’s preseason benefit game against Yellville- Summit on Friday, Aug. 22, at Tiger Stadium.

Junior Ywa Hay Moo ran for 105 yards and a touchdown on 10 first-half carries, and Hadley Maybee added two touchdown runs in the second half as the Tigers defeated Yellville-Summit 21-14.

“I asked the kids to just be physical and give me effort, and they did that,” Ewing said. “I was tickled to death with our offensive line and on defense, everybody flew around and hit. That’s just who I want to be.”

Green Forest will open the 2025 regular season at home Friday against Hollister, Mo.

Hollister defeated Green Forest 20-14 to open the 2024 season, and Ewing said he expects a challenge.

“They’re senior-loaded,” he said. “So they’re going to have some experience and it’s going to be a tough game. I think if we play our brand of football, play physical and do what I’m hoping we can do, I think we should have a good chance.”

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
