Green Forest junior running back Ywa Hay Moo has plenty of speed, and it was on full display in the Tigers’ game last week at Lincoln.
Moo can also run hard, however, and that too was abundantly clear. Running around, over and through Lincoln defenders, Moo collected 237 yards and four touchdowns on 17 carries as the Tigers erased a 35-10 deficit and defeated the Wolves 38-35.
“It was a great win,” said first-year Green Forest coach Dalton Ewing, whose team improved to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in the 4A-1. “We’re fired up.”
Moo got Green Forest within 35-17 by halftime when he broke free for a 50-yard touchdown run just before the end of the second quarter, breaking several tackles around the line of scrimmage before shaking loose and racing into the end zone.
“He’s got some power, for sure,” Ewing said. “It was kind of a coming-out game for him. I hope he can keep it up.”
Sophomore quarterback Hadley Maybee scored the game-winning touchdown on a 2-yard run on fourth-and-goal in the closing seconds. Senior Ryne Stone, who started the season at quarterback before moving to halfback, ran for 81 yards.
Defensively, the Tigers held Lincoln scoreless in the second half.
“Our defense came to play,” Ewing said. Green Forest travels to Elkins on Friday, Oct. 24.
