The Green Forest Tigers made a little school history earlier this season, recording their first-ever 4A-1 conference victory.
Now, they’ve done it again. Led by 16 points and 10 rebounds from junior Jace Meador, the Tigers rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit with a huge fourth quarter to beat the Gentry Pioneers 64-57 in Gentry on Thursday, Jan. 22.
Green Forest outscored Gentry 23-8 in the fourth quarter to beat the Pioneers for the second time this season.
Junior Collin Atchison scored 14 points for Green Forest, with classmate Grady Massengale adding 12.
The win at Gentry came two nights after a 73-36 loss to conference leader Shiloh Christian in Springdale. Atchison led the Tigers with 15 points.
Green Forest (5-17, 2-6 4A1) will host Pea Ridge at the Grim Gym on Friday, Jan. 30, then will be at home again to take on Huntsville on Saturday, Jan. 31. The Huntsville game was rescheduled from Tuesday, Jan. 27, because of road conditions after a weekend snowstorm.
Girls Shiloh Christian 58, Green Forest 21
Senior Kaylyn Smith scored 12 points as the Lady Tigers (6-14, 0-8 4A-1) lost to the conference-leading Lady Saints in Springdale.
Gentry 59, Green Forest 48
Smith had 20 points and sophomore Angelynn Janer added 18 in a loss at Gentry.
