Tigers drop 3 games in conference play

The Green Forest Tigers lost three 3A-1 conference games last week, all at home in the Grim Gym.

WEST FORK 77, GREEN FOREST 57

West Fork outscored Green Forest 20-9 in the second quarter to open up an 18-point lead at halftime and then held the Tigers at bay in the second half on Tuesday, Jan. 23.

Green Forest made nine three-pointers in the loss. That included four by senior guard Hesten Maybee, who led the team with 17 points.

Senior Brayden Compton added 16 points for Green Forest, while classmate Sebastian Holsted had seven assists.

VALLEY SPRINGS 63, GREEN FOREST 39

Valley Springs held Green Forest to nine firsthalf points and went on to beat the Tigers on Thursday, Jan. 25.

Green Forest again made nine three-pointers in a losing effort, with Maybee and Holsted each making four threes and leading the Tigers with 12 points apiece. Compton scored seven points and grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds.

BERGMAN 81, GREEN FOREST 37

Conference-leading Bergman scored 28 points in the first quarter and 51 in the first half on the way to a victory over the Tigers on Friday, Jan. 26.

Bergman made 12 three-pointers and led 6926 at the end of the third quarter.

Seniors Holsted and Ajay Strain scored eight points for Green Forest, as did junior Brityn Gilliam.

Green Forest’s girls defeated West Fork 40-29 before losing to Valley Springs 54-29 and Bergman 70-40.

Green Forest will play at Flippin on Tuesday, Jan. 30, before hosting Lead Hill on Friday, Feb. 2.
