The Bobcat buzz

Posted

Bobcat families and community members, We have had a good start to the 2024-2025 school year! The district kicked off the year with an all-staff gathering the week before students returned and several employees won gifts that were donated by area businesses.

Meals were also provided by different organizations. We want to thank all who donated: Equity Bank, Thompson Ready Mix, Chamber of Commerce, Tonya Williams/ Shelter Insurance, Grand Canyon University, On the Corner Gifts, Berryville Community Center, Suzanne Miner/ The Painted Poppy, Cornerstone Bank, Bank of 1889, Anstaff Bank, Arvest Bank and Freeman Heights Baptist Church.

Attendance is being prioritized again this year because it is important for student learning. When students improve their attendance rates, they improve academically. Poor attendance can impact a child’s reading proficiency and one of our most critical goals is to ensure students are reading on grade level.

Each building is implementing attendance incentives and we already have one grade level, first grade, which has won the attendance award twice this year.

Congratulations to all first-graders and staff members for this achievement! Families, thank you for partnering with us and making school attendance a priority.

Last year, there were seven staff members who did not miss a single day of work. We honored those individuals during the first week of school, but want to celebrate them publicly for this accomplishment. Perfect staff attendance includes: Mitch Vaught, Cassie Swofford, Yuli Lopez, Bailey Bastien, Jason Doss, Cynthia Fiveash and Johnice Glisson.

“Lunch With A Loved One” and “Grandparents Day” will be held this Friday, Sept. 13, at Berryville Intermediate and Berryville Elementary. If additional information is needed, contact your student’s school office. We are looking forward to having our children’s special people in our buildings this week.

The Rotary Student of the Month in August was Faith McKinney and the 2024 Miss Carroll County Queen was Sadie Sharp. Congratulations to both of these young ladies!

The Community Tailgate was a big success last Friday night with area businesses, churches, clubs and classes sponsoring the event. Thanks to everyone who turned out to support the football team and for the sponsorships. Homecoming festivities are right around the corner. Mark your calendars for Sept. 27 and join us for the 2024 homecoming activities.

ADDITIONAL REMINDERS Progress reports will be coming home with students on Friday, Sept. 13. Parents and guardians, be looking for these fiveweek reports and discuss them with your child.

Have you completed the lunch forms this year? The quickest way to access the forms is to use our online system found at the following link: https://linqconnect. com/public/meal-application/ new?identifier=FPYUZY. If you prefer paper forms, contact your child’s school office or you can email me directly.

Remember, completing these forms helps our district in many ways. We receive supplemental funds based on lunch form data. These funds provide student supplies, books, curriculum materials, intervention supports (including Take Flight and other interventions), increased safety measures, and much more.

Have a wonderful week and thank you for the continued support!
