District Mission: Ensuring high levels of learning for everyone, every day!

Hello everyone! It has been an exciting and accomplishment-filled semester across the district, with students, staff and community partners all contributing to recent successes both in and out of the classroom.

Academic achievement has taken center stage as 47 students represented the district at the FBLA District 1 Spring Conference in Fort Smith. Several students advanced to the state competition scheduled for April, reflecting strong preparation, leadership skills, and academic excellence. Their performance highlights the district’s ongoing commitment to preparing students for future careers and higher education opportunities. Congratulations to the students and sponsors, Sandon Williams and Johnice Glisson.

The district is also recognizing Career and Technical Education (CTE) month in February, shining a spotlight on programs that equip students with practical skills and clear pathways to future careers. CTE courses provide hands-on learning opportunities in areas such as health sciences, business and marketing, information technology, agriculture, engineering, skilled trades, and family and consumer sciences. Through certifications and internships, students gain real-world experience that prepares them for the workforce. These programs allow students to explore interests early, develop technical and leadership abilities, and graduate with a stronger sense of direction and employability. Be sure to contact us if you and your student want more information about any of the CTE pathways and courses that we offer.

Community support continues to play an important role in student success. The Berryville Rotary Club recently donated $500 to the elementary school store, helping provide additional resources and opportunities for younger students and reinforcing the strong partnership between local organizations and the school district. Thank you to the Rotary Club for supporting our kids!

The Bobcat band continues to shine as several members took top spots in regionals and will compete in Hot Springs at the end of this month. Israel Merida-Noriega placed first on flute and Karson Casey was third on the bassoon. Best of luck to Doug and Tonya Blevins and to the band members at state!

School spirit was on full display during this year’s homecoming festivities last week, which were celebrated as a great success. Paige Thurman was crowned Homecoming Queen, with Chaney Fairweather named first runner-up and Hannah Campbell as second runner-up. The event brought together former and current students, staff, and families in a celebration of tradition and community pride. Former Bobcat Cory Smith was this year’s guest speaker and did an outstanding job.

Athletics has been a major highlight as the basketball season is winding down. Coach Baylea Carpenter and the seventh grade girls basketball team wrapped up an impressive season with an 18–3 record, demonstrating teamwork and consistent performance on the court. On the boys’ side, Coach Ray and Coach Kilgore led the junior high boys basketball team to a conference championship, capping off a season marked by determination. Congratulations to both teams!

Individual athletic achievement earned recognition as first-year wrestler Paola Arrizon placed fourth at the regional competition and secured a spot at the upcoming state tournament — a remarkable accomplishment in her debut season. Wrestler Zydon Ballard came in first place at regionals as well!

From academics and career readiness to athletics and community involvement, the district continues to showcase a well-rounded commitment to student growth, opportunity, and achievement. Thank you for your continued support!
