Igrew up in a small city.
As a kid, my sister and I rode the bus downtown to the Public Library. This is where I got hooked on what libraries provide.
When I moved to Berryville in 1976 I found the library. It was upstairs in what is now a Community room, with Victor Moore at the desk and the ceiling falling in.
When my children were young the library is where it is today. We enjoyed story hour with Carol Ann and many other programs that she and Carla made happen.
I worked at the Carroll County Learning Center in the early ’90s. The library welcomed our special kids with patience and stories. I took my granddaughter to story hour with Mr. Mark. Now I am taking my grandson to story hour with Miss Jennifer. The importance of reading and stories is fundamental in the lives of our community.
I thank every single person who has helped to raise the funds for our new library. Some have written a large check, some have bought a raffle ticket or a cookie. It is this community, along with our hard working library staff, the Friends Board, and the Library Advisory board, that have made this happen. The walls are going up! Thank you! — Glenda Allison Berryville
