The three school districts in Carroll County have scheduled events over the next week to honor those who have served our country.
GREEN FOREST
To kick off a series of activities to honor veterans, the student council at Green Forest High School will host a “Veterans Day Assembly” at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, at Grim Gym.
All members of the community are invited to attend the event, which will include a special address from a local veteran and a musical tribute by the school’s choir and band programs.
Immediately after the assembly, all veterans and their guests are invited to attend a “thank you lunch” provided by Anstaff Bank of Green Forest.
Individuals can email any photographs of veterans to Stephen Garvin at sgarvin@gf.k12. ar.us, and include name, rank and service.
BERRYVILLE
At 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day, U.S. Rep. Steve Womack will be speaking at a Veterans Day assembly at Bobcat Arena on the campus of Berryville High School.
Veterans will be recognized during the event, and afterward they will be provided a lunch by the school’s Food Production class.
At 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 11, at the middle school, veterans will be recognized at a special breakfast where they will get to eat with students and receive a gift bag.
At 9 a.m. at the intermediate school, fourth-grade students will present a musical performance where veterans will be honored.
Wrapping up the day’s events will be at 2:30 p.m. at the elementary school where students in kindergarten through second grade will put on a musical performance and veterans will be recognized.
EUREKA SPRINGS
The Eureka Springs High School FFA is sponsoring a Veterans Day Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11.
Area veterans are invited to attend a full breakfast honoring their services in the high school cafeteria.
