The Green Forest Tigers faced a difficult challenge, playing a pair of 3A-1 road games on back-toback days.
The task was too much to overcome, as the Tigers lost to Lincoln 67-50 on Friday, Jan. 19, and then fell 50-39 the following night at Elkins.
Lincoln took control early in Friday’s game, outscoring Green Forest 30-4 in the first quarter.
Senior Brayden Compton led the Tigers with 14 points, while junior Zak Watson scored 11. Senior Ajay Strain had nine points and eight rebounds for Green Forest.
In Saturday’s game at Elkins, the score was tied 24-24 at halftime, but the Elks took a 10-point lead by the end of the third quarter.
Compton and classmate Hesten Maybee each scored eight points for Green Forest, while senior Sebastian Holsted added seven.
Green Forest’s girl lost 57-39 at Lincoln and 53-38 at Elkins.
Green Forest has three home games scheduled this week, hosting West Fork on Tuesday, Valley Springs on Thursday and Bergman on Friday at the Grim Gym.
